Still chasing skips that don’t show up?

Delays can throw any project off track. Whether you’re clearing a home, tackling a renovation or managing a busy site, the last thing you need is waiting around for a skip that doesn’t arrive on time. Waste builds up, space gets tight, and the whole job becomes harder than it needs to be.

Many customers tell us they’ve struggled with skip firms that turn up late, arrive with the wrong size, or leave them unsure about how their waste will be handled. It’s a common frustration and one we work hard to avoid. Clear communication, realistic delivery times and transparent pricing are at the heart of our Southport service. We focus on making skip hire dependable and straightforward, so you can stay on schedule and get the job done without the stress.

Imagine waving goodbye to rubbish headaches.

You booked the skip for Monday. It’s on your drive Tuesday morning. The space is tidy by Wednesday. You don’t have to stress about waste piling up, sneaky fees, or dodgy pickups. Just an easy, smooth drop-off and collection that lets you get on with the real work.

  • Your home renovation is finally happening – without bags of rubble stacked in the hall.
  • Your site is spotless and safe, and clients notice.
  • You’re not stressing over council fines, because the skip permit’s handled.
  • You finally got a skip that actually fit everything – no overflow, no double-booking.

It’s cleaner, faster, and done on your terms.

What if the problem isn’t the waste… but how everyone deals with it?

Many people think skip hire is simply about finding a reasonable price and making a quick booking. In reality, timing, skip size and clear communication make far more difference to how smoothly a project runs. When delivery is late, or the wrong size turns up, waste quickly piles up, and the job gets disrupted, something far more common than it should be in the industry.

Delays usually happen because customers aren’t appropriately guided, schedules aren’t planned around real needs or expectations aren’t explained from the start. Those minor oversights cause the most significant setbacks.

That’s why our Southport skip hire service is built differently: clear advice, reliable delivery times and straightforward pricing. By keeping things simple and honest from the beginning, we help you get it right the first time and keep your project moving without unnecessary stress.

Waste problems don’t need to slow you down

Whether you’re renovating your home or keeping a client site running smoothly, our Skip Hire Southport service keeps waste removal fast, fair and fuss-free.

With transparent pricing, reliable delivery and skips that actually suit the job, you don’t need to chase updates or worry about delays. We focus on making the process simple and dependable from start to finish, which is why so many customers choose us time and again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please see the frequently asked questions to the right or contact us if you can’t see your question below.

Can I put a Skip on the road or pavement outside my property?

Yes, but only if you apply for a Highways Permit from the Local District Council. These are obtained by Able Skip Hire Ltd on your behalf, and the council fee is added to the cost of the skip. The cost of the permit can be found here. We will supply cones to place around the skip.

Will the skip damage my Driveway?

No. All our vehicles use a vertical chain-lift, skip loader unit, which means the skip is not dragged across the surface of the drive, it is gently lowered into place by our experienced operators. If you require us to place a skip in a difficult or hazardous position i.e. over manhole covers or across grass areas we will ask you to sign a ‘hirer accepts responsibility’ document.

What can I not put in the skip?

The following items are not accepted in our skips: – Refrigerators, Freezers, Tyres, Asbestos Roofing Sheets, unsealed oil or paint cans. If any of these types of waste our found in the skip thay will be returned to the hirer or an extra charge may apply.

How much waste can I put in the skip?

All skips must be filled level with the top of the container. This is because overloaded skips can cause the vehicle to exceed its legal weight limit, which in turn could lead to our drivers being fined up to £1000. Unsafe loads can also present a hazard to other road users. Any skips filled excessively will either have the excess waste removed or an extra charge will be applied.

Can I put different types of waste in the skip?

Yes. Unlike some other skip firms, we operate a recycling centre, so all our skips are tipped here, and the waste is segregated accordingly to be recycled. So we save you the time and effort of separating your own rubbish. This means both soils, brick etc can be placed in the same skip as household and commercial waste.

Can I burn rubbish in a skip?

No. Under no circumstances can a fire be lit inside a skip. This is a contravention of Fire safety Guideline No.16 and also damages the skip and it’s paintwork, which can have implications for Health and Safety. Any person, who causes a fire will have the contents of the skip deposited on their property, will also be liable for the re-painting cost of the skip, and their details will be passed to the Environment Agency and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service who may prosecute the hirer.

How soon can I get a skip?

One days notice is required for all skip deliveries, but we will attempt to meet all orders as soon as possible.

Do I need a permit for my skip?

Before you place a skip on any public highway or road (including a pavement) you need to have a skip permit from the local council. Skip permits exist to control how many skips are placed on the road because they take up space and can impact parking and traffic flow. for further details and pricing please click here
